Resident On Reconstructed Home
The City
of Pine Bluff’s Economic and Community Development Department cut the
ribbon on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 with resident Annie George on her
newly constructed home in East Pine Bluff. The home was partially
financed with dollars from the HOME Investment Partnership Program
through the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The
housing unit is a two bedroom, one bath single-family dwelling with
energy efficient standards included in the home design. Ms. George
qualified for assistance to reconstruct her home utilizing the City Home
Reconstruction Program along with private financing. The ceremony
included a ribbon cutting and a key presented by Mayor Carl A. Redus,
Jr. and Alderwoman Thelma Walker. The Mayor thanked Ms. George for
allowing the City of Pine Bluff Economic & Community Development
Department to assist in this project. Joining Ms. George for the
celebrations was Alderman Glen Brown, members of the Pine Bluff Chamber
of Commerce’s Red Coat Ambassadors, and staff of Economic & Community
Development Department.
Ms. George
participated in the Reconstruction Program offered by the City of Pine
Bluff through the Department of Economic & Community Development.
The City of Pine Bluff Reconstruction Program is designed to assist
residents of owner occupied houses that are in need of replacing their
existing housing unit. The recommendation is made by the Housing
Specialist who determines that the house is not feasible for repair.
This program allows homeowners to improve their quality of life and
increase safety and efficiency in their homes.
Mayor Redus commended the Community
Development Committee and the City Council members for appropriation of
funds and support for projects of this nature and he also thanked the
Economic and Community Development Department for their efforts in
assisting residents with their housing needs.
Donald
Sampson, Director of Economic and Community Development Department, also
expressed his gratitude to Mayor Redus, the Community Development
Committee and the Pine Bluff City Council members for the appropriation
of HOME Investment Program Funds and their support for projects such as
this.
